I had the same problem and solved it in a strange way, As we are all aware Mac user has actually 2 names: one is the username the profile name if i may and the Display name. Prior to Catalinawhen authenticating with an SMB share from a Windows computerI was using the display name although it is a full name with a space and everything was cool.
In CatalinaI found out I can only use the username, windows cannot authenticate with the display name. Sign up to join this community. The best answers are voted up and rise to the top. Asked 8 months ago. Active 9 days ago.Zerotier kali

Right-click the Registry node, point to Newand select Registry Item. This disables the SMBv1 Server components. This Group Policy must be applied to all necessary workstations, servers, and domain controllers in the domain. The default value includes MRxSMB10 in many versions of Windows, so by replacing them with this multi-value string, it is in effect removing MRxSMB10 as a dependency for LanmanServer and going from four default values down to only these three preceding values.
Note : When using Group Policy Management Console, there is no need to use quotation marks or commas. Just type the each entry on individual lines as shown above. After the policy has applied and the registry settings are in place, you have to restart the system before SMB v1 is disabled. Once these are configured, allow the policy to replicate and update. I stumbled onto a solution for me after nothing else worked. I found that the method for signing onto a server has changed a bit "under the hood" though the dialog boxes still look the same but function a little differently. Apparently, to enhance the security of the server, you now must sign on to it exactly as you would if you were at the server itself signing on.
I used to be able to just click on Finder's "Go" menu option, then select "Connect to Server No more. But selecting "Guest" doesn't work anymore. I probably have to set up a password for it on the server and on the Mac for Guest to work. All for better server security.

I am not sure that there any noticeable degradation in speed or performance. Do what you have to do to pass the audit. Sorry for the late reply. Just server side. Brian Steingraber. Hey, kind of late to the party, but have a couple questions if I may. You said you only enabled it on the servers side. From what I read, if only on one and not the other, there could be errors.
I am surprised if you did not receive any errors. That aside, what is your performance since the change? What version of SMB are you using? Everything I've researched since, and from experience implementing it, shows negligible impact on modern systems.

How to detect, enable and disable SMBv1, SMBv2, and SMBv3 in Windows
DeltaGolf said:.I have a simple test evironment 1 DC, 1 member server, 1 client. OS are Win R2 ent and Windows 7 ent all fresh installs, with default settings. PS I have read the articles related to smb:.
So I ran Network monitor to verify if smb is signed. SMB packets indeed showed signed. To my surprise smb connectivity from the client was still possible but how?
Fix SMB connection problems for Mac
Inspected packets, and saw the smb negociation and eventually establishing signed smb traffic. I checked the GPO's and they where correctly applied and even checked using regedit and saw the keys modify accordingly and restarted the Worckstation and Server service after each modification.SOLVED: Connecting Windows 10 to Netgear ReadyNAS (SMB Protocol)
That is a bit strange I have used IPSec policies before so I know how it should work and was able to test successfully. There must be something I am missing Below are some imgs from some of the tests Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums. I am trying to involve someone familiar with this topic to further look at this issue. There might be some time delay. Appreciate your patience. Thank you for your understanding and support.

I will set the "EnableSecuritySignature" to "0" on the client, which means the client is no-signed. I tried setting the GPO microsoft network server settings on the server to enabled both options, then one by onechecked the registry setting on the server and confirmed both settings in the Lanman server were on 1 and on the client disabled both options microsoft network clientchecked the settings in registry.
Started capturing again, and started negociating without signed packets and then below the red line in the picture the server responds with signed smb packets and communication is establised. I even disabled on the server both options not to sign and on the client disabled the if server agrees option and enabled the alwayssame result.
In our production environment the settings work, I just wanted to test in my test environment and try to understand what exactly is happening. As for time delay Like I promised I have done another test as I promised but unfortunately with the same results.
Below are some new screens that may troubleshoot the issue. Keep in mind that this is in a test environment not in production so there is no stress to this issue, but I would really like to find an explanation to this I am sure there is someting enforcing negiciation but what?Gmt800 steering wheel swap
Like I said all OS are fresh installs with default settings. No other GPOs overwrite the settings, only the default domain policy is enabled and it has no settings related to smb OKthen if the client requires signing although both settings are off confirmed registry settings then why don't I disable both negociation and "require" on the server side, right?
That would surely stop access At least that is how it goes in the test environment for a Win7 client If you have other opinions or you can replicate the experiment in a test environment and demonstrate smb connectivity failure I would like to see that work I think the configuration is correct, and I would like to know if you use Windows xp or Windows instead of the client side windows 7will you get any successful.
